Une nuit dans une charmante bastide dans le Gard…

A night in a charming country house in the Gard…

W hen we went on holiday, with my husband and son, we made a stopover in the Gard. A land of sunshine and full of history, the Gard region is rich and welcoming. From its famous Pont du Gard, to the quality vineyards and the typical and nestled villages, you will be charmed and disoriented.

I was able to discover a small town very typical of this region: Uzès. Located in the heart of the triangle formed by the cities of Nîmes, Avignon and Alès. The charm of this medieval village appears in the kilometers of pleasant alleys.

I was looking for a B&B near this pretty town of Uzès, away from the hustle and bustle and full of charm. I came across "l'autre maison" in Saint-Jean-de-Ceyrargues. This unique place has a magnificent interior courtyard, with a swimming pool in the middle of a typical Provencal farmhouse. Vines run along large stone walls and under arcades, you can find a garden furniture. Everything is really thought out in a Provencal spirit. I invite you to go see their Instagram account @lautremaison and their website to be able to follow the evolution of this exceptional place. On its blog, the cottage offers pleasant walks. They will take you on the trails and in the woods of the region.

This is a cottage that can be rented as a bed and breakfast, but you also have the option of renting the entire house with a capacity of 18 travelers. You can stay there from €86 per night depending on the period with breakfast included. It is the ideal place for a romantic excursion with your partner or a gastronomic stay with the family. You can also organize seminars. In addition, the cottage offers dinners at the table d'hôtes to discover and taste delicious traditional dishes from the region.

For our part, we were in the "Poulinailler" room which was a real little cozy nest, with its exposed solid wood beams and authentic parquet flooring. We were charmed by this rustic style. There is also a balcony adjoining the room with a splendid view of the inner courtyard, but also of the village. Hugo was in heaven, the guest room is totally Kids friendly with a well-stocked games room. Pregnant women are really welcome in this place, because it has quality bedding and the rooms are equipped with air conditioning.

The breakfast was exquisite, with fresh fruit, homemade jams, granola made by the couple who hosted us and fresh pastries waiting for us. The host is a lovely gentleman. His kindness and advice won us over. We really felt at home.

I highly recommend this place if you want to have a great night and enjoy the charms of the Gard. I completely recharged my batteries there. This place is pleasant and it really allows you to reconnect with nature. I highly recommend that you visit the Gard and all its small villages to disconnect from your daily life and breathe a deep breath of fresh air.
