The Vendée is my homeland. I could not describe my attachment to this region which is magnificent. I have hundreds of memories here and there, and since then, I return there every year to recharge my batteries and rediscover my roots. Whether it is the oyster beds, the beaches as far as the eye can see or the salt marshes, this region has preserved its natural charm. I really want to introduce this rich land to my children and pass on my Vendée heritage to them.
During my vacation in Vendée, I chose to spend a quiet weekend in Noirmoutier to peacefully enjoy my third trimester of pregnancy. This island is natural, superb and surprising. You can reach it via the bridge that connects it to the continent, but also by crossing the famous Gois passage at low tide, taking care not to get caught by the tides that often surprise more than one person.
I fell under the spell of the Hôtel du Général d'Elbée . Located on the edge of the Moulin estuary, this splendid building, listed as a Historic Monument, is full of history and offers an idyllic setting. Its history bears witness to a rich past of the Vendée uprising led by General d'Elbée during the Revolution. The hotel is completely new and remains in its original state. In fact, it only reopened in 2016 after extensive renovation work. Its unique style perfectly reflects an elegant style while revealing simplicity and delicacy.
Within the hotel, there is a Nuxe spa which is ideal for pregnant women. Indeed, the "Well-being" access with certain services is included in the price of the room, allowing you to relax and unwind while enjoying your pregnancy. In the heart of the green garden, the hotel offers a heated swimming pool. Inside the hotel, you will also find a tea room with a splendid view of the port and the Jacobsen pier, as well as a wine cellar in a total lounge spirit.
Its swimming pool in the middle of a pretty flower garden, embedded in the heart of the hotel, is sublime: both large, full of charm and pleasant with its deckchairs surrounding it.
The hotel offers different rooms that are unique and modern. The decoration is well thought out and the products are of high quality. I liked its comfortable bedding and little extra: the air conditioning. These elements make this place a cocoon where pregnant women are really welcome. In addition, each room is equipped with double glazing which promises you perfect soundproofing to spend a good, restorative night.
You can also ask the hotel for a child or baby bed if you want to come with your family. There are also many services on request such as the services of a babysitter to look after your children during your spa time or even bicycle rental to explore the island with your family.
From €170 per night, you will be welcomed like kings. Breakfast is extra, but I highly recommend it. Everything is homemade. You can find pastries, homemade granola, fresh fruit, but also savory. The little extra: you will enjoy it in the veranda with a view of the castle and the swimming pool, enough to wake you up gently.
Warm and distinguished, I can only recommend the Hôtel du Général d'Elbée to drop anchor and spend a delicious stay in Noirmoutier. Do not hesitate to ask for advice at reception to be able to explore this magnificent Vendée island. In addition to being charming, the hotel is Kids friendly and it is ideal for a romantic stay, while waiting for a baby, or with family or with baby or children.
