This majestic 16th century manor has charmed us. It is located in the Mesnil national forest in northern Brittany and lost between the city of St Malo and the commune of Cancale. The setting is exceptional. The manor is run by the charming Surcouf family who have lovingly renovated their beautiful home.
I went there with my partner, before our wedding, for a romantic weekend. The manor is surrounded by a pretty garden and several small buildings. One of the buildings is dedicated to guests. You can relax in a large living room where you will find a library lounge.
The manor offers 6 rooms named after a tree: the hornbeam, the oak, the elm, the ash and the beech. I chose the elm room. I really liked the guest room, it was decorated with old 18th century furniture. If you are looking for privacy in a warm place, you have found the ideal place with your husband or partner!
My husband and I took the opportunity to discover the region: St Malo, Cancale and its pretty coastline. I felt soothed there. I appreciated the calm of the forest and these warm moments by the fire in this very pretty region.
We also visited Mont St Michel which is only 1 hour away by car. I enjoyed our little getaway. Note that the pretty town of St Malo is only 40 minutes away by car from the manor. Young mothers or mothers-to-be, you are free to choose!
To sum up, this manor is full of charm and worth the detour for a weekend away from it all!
From 110 euros per night.
